Kalmar gains cyber security certification

Cargotec-owned manufacturing firm Kalmar has received IEC 62443-4-1 certification for its One automation system, which was developed by the Kalmar Technology and Competence Centre in Tampere, Finland.

IEC 62443-4-1 is one of several standards that define the process criteria for the secure development of products used in industrial automation and control systems (IACS). It describes the cyber security secure development life-cycle (SDL) requirements for products designed for use in IACS settings and gives guidelines on how to achieve the standards listed for each aspect.

Exida, an established product certification business, independently evaluated the Kalmar One automation system’s SDL process.

“The certification provides additional peace of mind for Kalmar One customers by ensuring they have access to the latest patches and updates to ensure the security of their systems. It also demonstrates that the system has been developed in line with industry best practices,” stated Timo Alho, director of product management and automation at Kalmar.
