Kalmar to enhance Belgian terminal operator

Kalmar, part of Cargotec, has agreed to supply the Belgian operator Delca Logistics BV (Delca) with a Super Gloria reachstacker with a lifting capacity of 45tonnes. The order was booked in Cargotec’s 2020 first quarter order intake, with delivery of the machine scheduled to take place in the fourth quarter of 2020.

Delca Logistics was founded in 2000 and operates a river terminal in Wielsbeke, in the Belgian province of West Flanders. The company’s current fleet includes three Kalmar Gloria reachstackers.

The Kalmar Super Gloria is the largest reachstacker in the range. It is designed for demanding lifting applications and features a long wheelbase to provide maximum stability. The machine delivered to Delca will be used at the Wielsbeke terminal to load and unload cargo from ships.

In yard mode the machine will be capable of stacking standard and high containers five-high, while in barge mode it will be capable of stacking four container rows deep and three to four high depending on tide water levels. It will be fitted with an engine that meets EU Stage V emission standards and a camera system on the counterweight to increase the safety of lifting and lowering operations.

“The new reachstacker will play an important part in the future of our terminal by enabling safe and efficient handling of heavy and challenging loads,” Philippe Lesaffre, Fleet Manager, Delca commented.
