Kalmar to supply PSA Italy with new container equipment

Finnish port equipment manufacturer Kalmar has signed a contract with PSA Italy for eight Kalmar Eco reach stackers which will enhance the container handling capabilities of Genova Pra’ and SECH box terminals.

The order was booked in Q1 2023 order intake of Cargotec, the parent company of Kalmar, and the machines are scheduled for delivery during the second quarter of the year.

Kalmar said the Eco reachstackers, which PSA Italy will receive, will have a smaller engine than traditional solutions, lowering fuel consumption and emissions while maintaining the same productivity levels.

The new machines will also offer an improved driving experience by providing smoother acceleration and reducing cabin noise, according to the manufacturer.

“We are constantly optimising our equipment fleet to improve fuel efficiency and reduce carbon emissions as part of our Group’s ambitious sustainability targets,” said Roberto Ferrari, CEO of PSA Italy.
