Kalmar’s Shanghai facility celebrates 6,000th machine

Kalmar has announced the completion of its 6,000th machine, which was a reachstacker, at its production factory in Shanghai, China.

The production of the machine was finished on 25 May 2023 and the reachstacker will be sent to Bodi International LLC in Mongolia.

Customers, workers, Kalmar dealers throughout China and other guests celebrated the company’s milestone at a special event.

“Over the last two years, Kalmar has supplied Mongolian customers with more than 10 reachstackers supported by exceptional after-sales and spare parts supply services,” said Alex Tang, head of Greater China at Kalmar.

Kalmar’s Shanghai facility, which opened in 2005, manufactures a comprehensive range of high-end freight-handling equipment for clients in Asia-Pacific, Africa, South America, Oceania, and the Middle East.

The factory is located near one of the world’s busiest ports on Shanghai’s southern outskirts, with convenient access to a network of navigable inland waterways and China’s massive railway network.

“The Shanghai plant is a vital part of our global manufacturing network, focusing on the assembly of reachstackers, empty container handlers and terminal tractors for our customers worldwide,” stated Alf-Gunnar Karlgren, vice president of Counter Balanced at Kalmar.
