Kenya, Nomination of cargo to Container Freight Stations (CFS)

We would like to inform you of a change to all cargo consigned to local Kenyan receivers. Previously, Kenya Ports Authority allowed pre-nomination of cargo to preferred Container Freight Stations (CFS) through a clause on the Bill of Lading.

Effective 1st July 2018, The Kenya Ports Authority has stopped all pre-nomination of such cargo to the CFSs. In effect, any cargo movement to the CFS will now be at the discretion of the Port Authorities.

This means that any clause on the Bill of Lading (BL) that includes movement to a CFS will be disregarded going forward. 1st July 2018 is the last shipped on board date that will be allowed on the BL with the clause. This directive does not include cargo shipped through the Port of Mombasa but with final destination as a transit country.

Please take note of this change and take action accordingly.
