Konecranes receives ARTG System-order from Indonesia

In Q3 2018 Konecranes signed a contract for the delivery of an Automated RTG (ARTG) System to PT Prima Terminal Petikemas, a subsidiary of state-owned port operator PT Pelabuhan Indonesia I (Persero). The ARTG system on order includes 12 ARTG cranes with associated software, interfaces and services.

The 12 ARTGs will be delivered in January 2020 to Belawan Container Terminal, Phase 2 in Medan, North Sumatra. They will be identical to those already delivered to PT Prima Multi Terminal in Kuala Tanjung, Indonesia.

Indonesia is a strategically important country for Konecranes. The Government of Indonesia is carrying out a nationwide freight transport program to improve the movement of goods through the country’s vast waterways. With its products and services, Konecranes is contributing to the country’s drive to become a global top ten economy by 2025.

“I thank PT Prima Terminal Petikemas and Pelindo I for their continuing confidence in Konecranes’ ARTG technology. The value our customers perceive in our ARTG system comes from the elimination of unintended crane movements, reduced energy consumption, reduced maintenance, and increased productivity and predictability,” said Kimmo Nyman, Sales Director, Konecranes business area Port Solutions.

“Pelindo I is strongly modernizing its container terminals with the latest automation technology. We are pleased with our collaboration with Konecranes, and look forward to executing this project successfully and serving our customers as efficiently as possible in the beginning of 2020,” said Mr. Jansen Sitohang, President Director of PT Prima Terminal Petikemas.

The new ARTG system will be delivered in January 2020. It will comprise:

  • Twelve all-electric, automated Konecranes RTGs with Active Load Control (ALC) and Auto-steering
  • Four Remote Operating Stations (ROSs)
  • Truck guidance systems
  • Intelligent gates for the container stacks
  • Interfaces for miscellaneous container yard infrastructure
  • Automation software, including the interface to the Terminal Operating System (TOS)
  • TRUCONNECT®remote service, which gives 24/7 access to Konecranes’ global network of crane experts
