Kongsberg Digital to digitalise MSC’s entire container ship fleet

MSC has decided to digitalise all its container vessels with Kongsberg Digital’s data infrastructure service Vessel Insight and Vessel Performance application, after a contract, signed by the two companies.

The two parties inked a five-year agreement that includes the delivery of the aforementioned services on MSC’s owned fleet, consisting of approximately 500 boxships.

“With Vessel Insight, MSC can contextualise data created by their vessels through our vessel-to-cloud infrastructure and use this to reduce emissions and optimise their entire fleet of container ships”, said Hege Skryseth, president at Kongsberg Digital, adding, “Building on an already existing strong relationship with Kongsberg Maritime, Kongsberg Digital will continue to build products in cooperation with MSC.”

By using Kongsberg Digital´s vessel-to-cloud data infrastructure Vessel Insight, MSC will be able to achieve more transparency and improved utilisation of data, according to a statement.

“The maritime industry is facing strict regulatory requirements to cut emissions and become more sustainable, and we are therefore very pleased and proud to have secured this contract,” commented Gianluigi De Maio, senior vice president, manager of fleet-network-terminal efficiency at MSC.

In addition to connecting to Vessel Insight and access to its related applications, Kongsberg Digital will provide close follow-up to MSC.
