Kramer Group achieves record container movements in 2021

Kramer Group with box terminals at Maasvlakte and at the City terminal has reported a record year for 2021, handling more than 900,000 container movements, surpassing the previous record of 750,000 moves, set in 2017.

The Rotterdam storage and transshipment company for shortsea, feeders and inland shipping has stated that this growth is not only due to the record transshipment in the Rotterdam container port but mainly due to its response to the crowds.

In particular, under the concepts of Barge Service Center and Feeder Service Center, the group unloads ‘deepsea containers’ at the Rotterdam Container Terminal near the Amazon harbour. Kramer transport these containers by truck to the nearby terminals, offering operators and terminals the opportunity to avoid quays and therefore waiting times.

“We launched these concepts a few years ago, offering an alternative to inland shipping when there is congestion,” said Kramer Group’s commercial director, Ted Holleman, who added that terminals also use the company’s services to relieve the load on the quays.
