Large renovation project in New Jersey port, utilising 15 SFT Cone Fenders and Bollards

The Repauno Port & Rail Terminal, located in Gibbstown, New Jersey, directly along the Delaware River, is at the center of one of the most active shipping markets in the United States.

This strategically located site has significant logistical benefits and is now undergoing a substantial refurbishment project to become a multipurpose facility capable of handling a variety of cargo types, including roll-on/roll-off and bulk freight.

A new dock with a substantial 12.192 meters draft is being built as a key aspect of the project, allowing the transfer of a diverse variety of products and ensuring the port’s profitable trading future.

ShibataFenderTeam (SFT) has successfully designed and produced a tailored solution to ensure safe berthing for the diversity of vessels expected at the facility, working in close collaboration with the contractor awarded the building of the new infrastructure.

The new dock now has 15 SPC Cone Fender Systems (1600, G2.2) with closed box panels (two sizes) pre-fitted with UHMW-PE pads and 13 T-head Bollards (200t).

SFT’s in-house engineering team investigated every detail of the multifunctional terminal during the design phase, with a special emphasis on the standoff distance to guarantee that the Ro-Ro ramps would reach the dock without any barriers.

“We take good pride in our contribution to this great project which has created, to date, more than US$275 million in investments,” stated a ShibataFenderTeam spokesperson.
