The port equipment manufacturer Liebherr will supply the Global Ports Group operated Vostochnaya Stevedoring Company (VSC) in Russia with two new Liebherr LHM 550 mobile harbour cranes.
Scheduled to be delivered in the third quarter of 2022, the cranes are anticipated to contribute to the required speed of vessel handling at the Port of Vostochny’s terminal.
“The use of new mobile cranes, designed specifically for VSC, will increase the terminal’s productivity,” commented Albert Likholet, CEO of Global Ports, who added that this is especially important for fast cargo handling in the context of the continued traffic growth in the Far East.
With a lifting capacity of 144 tonnes, the cranes that will be manufactured for Global Ports at Liebherr’s plant in the German city of Rostock will be delivered pre-assembled to VSC by sea, according to a statement.
“The equipment has high mobility and manoeuvrability and can operate in hook, grab bucket and spreader, handling up to two containers at the same time when using twin lift,” noted a Liebherr representative.
In addition, a maximum outreach of 54 metres enables the cranes to handle vessels of up to 16 rows of containers wide, while the glass tower cab provides the operator with an “unobstructed” view of the working area, and the arrangement of monitors and devices ensures safe control of crane moves.
Last but not least, the cranes’ motors comply with the latest Stage IV / Tier 4 final environmental safety class, which reduce emissions during handling operations, according to a statement from Liebherr.
