The Port of Los Angeles in the United States and the Port of Gothenburg in Sweden have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen their connection and cooperation on a variety of important projects, including sustainability, digital and physical infrastructure, and possible trade possibilities.
The Memorandum of Understanding focuses on supply chain productivity and digital technology, as well as the sharing of the Port Optimizer™, a data portal created and used by the Port of Los Angeles since 2017. Through real-time, data-driven insights for freight planning, scheduling, and monitoring, the platform has improved the Californian port’s supply chain performance.
Furthermore, the two ports are expected to work together to improve energy and alternative energy use, as well as develop strategies for incorporating new and emerging green technologies to reduce the effect of port activities on local communities and the general ecosystem.
