MacGregor, a division of Cargotec, has secured a significant order to provide comprehensive RoRo (Roll-on/Roll-off) equipment for an additional four Aurora class Pure Car and Truck Carriers (PCTCs) by Höegh Autoliners.
These vessels, designed to accommodate multi-fuel and zero-carbon technologies, will expand Höegh Autoliners’ newbuilding programme for the Aurora class to a total of twelve ships, all to be constructed by China Merchant Heavy Industries (Jiangsu).
This order has been recorded in Cargotec’s order intake for the fourth quarter of 2023, with the scheduled delivery of the vessels spanning from the second quarter of 2026 to the first half of 2027.
The Aurora class represents the future of the PCTC industry, boasting the capacity to transport up to 9,100 cars and claiming the title of the world’s largest and most environmentally friendly car carrier MacGregor.
Notably, these vessels will be equipped with DNV’s ammonia and methanol-ready notations, aligning with the industry’s growing focus on sustainable and alternative fuel solutions.

MacGregor’s involvement in this project encompasses the entire spectrum of RoRo equipment, including the design, supply, and installation support for a large stern quarter ramp, a door, a side ramp and door, internal ramp systems, and liftable car decks across all four vessels.
