Maersk divests additional logistics assets in Russia

A.P. Moller – Maersk has entered into an agreement in order to divest its Russia logistics sites in St. Petersburg and Novorossiysk to IG Finance Development Limited.

This is a result of Maersk’s decision, in March 2022, to discontinue activities in Russia, due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

“We are pleased to have found a new owner of our two logistics sites in Russia and thereby execute on our decision to divest all our assets in the country. Throughout the divestment process, we have as a company felt a strong responsibility towards the remaining 50 employees at the two sites, and we are happy that they will be offered employment as part of the new setup,” said Karsten Kildahl, chief commercial officer of Maersk.

Therefore, the inland depot in Novorossiysk, a facility of 28,750 m² with a capacity of 1,500 TEUs, was acquired by IG Finance Development Limited. The container depot specialises in handling commercial cargo, such as grains from railway wagons to sea containers.

IG Finance Development Limited also bought the chilled and frozen warehouse in St. Petersburg which is a 23,500 m² established in 2020.

The divestment is closed and has been effective as of 17 February 2023, as the transaction has received the required regulatory approvals in the European Union and Russia.

In the meantime, IG Finance Development Limited has agreed with Arosa, a major food importer in Russia, to operate facilities in St. Petersburg and Novorossiysk.
