Maersk Essen scheduled to depart Lázaro Cárdenas by mid February

In the latest announcement from Maersk Lines on its stricken vessel, the Maersk Essen, which lost 750 containers in a Pacific storm in mid-January, is expected to off-load damaged containers and effect repairs and leave Port of Lázaro Cárdenas, Mexico by 16 February.

[s2If is_user_logged_in()]According to the liner operator Maersk Essen will discharge the damaged containers and make “weather-related repairs” requiring a longer than usual stay at the port.

“Our current plan shows the vessel is scheduled to depart February 12-16 (subject to change) for Los Angeles, resuming regular TP6 string scheduled calls. Should this date change, we will keep you informed,” said the carrier.

The line also asked customers not to file import entries with the US at this stage, a review of all cargo onboard the vessel will be made, and the carrier will send specific details to each shipper as necessary.

Furthermore, “It is important to note if your cargo travels with house and master bills of lading that adjustments might be required as we determine more specific cargo-related impacts,” said Maersk.
