Maersk extends Transatlantic winter plan

Maersk has launched a winter schedule for its North Europe to North America routes from the end of 2021 due to the severity of the weather across the Atlantic, in an effort to minimise disruptions and enhance reliability.

The European-American services, TA1, TA2 and TA3 services, were expected to end in the beginning of February, but with current bottlenecks across the North American network, the Danish shipping company has decided to continue with an extended winter schedule (cycle 3) planned until April 2022.

“The situation in North America is driven by several factors, including local congestion in US terminals, but Maersk is doing all in its power to combat the circumstances and minimise their impact on customers until normal service resumes,” said the global ocean carrier in a statement.

The adjustments to the schedules for the coming months will therefore be as follows:

“We expect that this programme will vastly improve the customer experience with Maersk, as sudden changes to your cargo plan will have less of an impact,” said the company.
