Maersk’s feeder Maersk Roubaix was disabled and adrift in the Mediterranean on 20 December, 370 kilometres from Malta, while it was en route from Istanbul to the port of Algeciras in Spain.
The built-in 2006 container ship was estimated to arrive in the Spanish port on 24 December.
However, on 21 December at 03:00 coordinated universal time (UTC), the ship was still adrift according to a Maritime Bulletin’s report, awaiting a tug to assist.
Engine issues seem to be the cause of the 1,118 TEU vessel’s incident.
