Maersk unveils its largest distribution centre in the Philippines

A.P. Moller–Maersk recently inaugurated its largest distribution centre in the Philippines, a 100,000m² facility located in Calamba, Laguna, through Maersk Contract Logistics.

Philippine President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and Department of Trade and Industry Secretary Cristina A. Roque were the guests of honour at the opening ceremony.

“With the grand opening of the Maersk Optimus Distribution Center, our logistics system will be a step closer to become a powerful force — bridging our islands, breathing life into our industries and our businesses, and bringing together our people on a path towards sustained development,” stated Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. at the ceremony.

Known as the Maersk Optimus Distribution Center, this state-of-the-art warehouse is now Maersk’s flagship facility in the Philippines.

President Marcos highlighted the essential role of logistics in supporting daily life and economic activity, noting that Maersk Optimus will play a pivotal role in strengthening import and export operations across Southern Luzon, particularly benefiting regions such as Bicol and CALABARZON.

“Let this day reaffirm our commitment to constructing a Bagong Pilipinas (New Philippines), where we work hand-in-hand to ensure that prosperity flows into every corner of our archipelago,” he noted.

With a 76,000-pallet storage capacity, Optimus is Maersk’s largest distribution centre in the country, strategically positioned to serve as a logistics hub for southern Luzon. The centre features 75 loading docks and a Fleet Operational Control Centre (FOCC) to streamline fleet management and enhance operational efficiency.

Aiming for LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification, the facility incorporates advanced technologies to boost energy efficiency, water conservation, and waste reduction.

Optimus will also serve as a central hub for warehouse operations and co-packing services, supporting various industries, including consumer goods, food and beverage, lifestyle, healthcare, technology, automotive, and retail. Three major fast-moving consumer goods clients are already utilizing the new facility.
