Maersk has decided to enhance its Oceania network to improve its schedule reliability amid the ongoing schedule disruption and terminal congestion in the region.
The Danish container carrier will introduce a new service to connect Brisbane with the New Zealand ports of Timaru and Lyttelton. The new service, named The Polaris, will start on 11 January, when the 2,546TEU Maersk Nansha is expected to call at the port of Timaru.
The port rotation of the new service will be Brisbane – Timaru – Lyttelton – Brisbane

Additionally, Maersk will make changes to the the port coverage of its Sirius Star service aiming to improve schedule reliability.
Starting from the 2,478TEU Seaspan Hannover / 145W voyage, the rotation of the Sirius Star will be adjusted as follows: Suva – Lautoka – Tauranga – Auckland – Nelson – Timaru – Lyttelton – Tauranga
The new proforma rotation will be effective from 2 January, when Seaspan Hannover will depart Fiji.
