General Status of China Ports

Challenges to the discharge and handling of reefer shipments at the Shanghai, Tianjin, and Ningbo terminals continues to persist because of the extraordinary demand for reefer plugs on shore, says OOCL in its announcement.

This may lead to a diversion or relocation of reefer containers for discharge at an alternative port and the company is currently working very closely with shippers on contingency plans and viable options to meet their requirements.

OOCL adds it has also been proactively suggesting its customers to collect their reefer shipments at their earliest convenience and the line is providing recovery plans to minimise the potential impact.

American President Lines (APL), a part of the CMA CGM Group, is also providing its customers with an update on the operational impact brought about by the evolving Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation in Mainland China.

APL’s Offices

APL has been implementing a work-from-home arrangement for its staff. The company says it will continue to provide services on a remote basis until its offices return to full operations from 2 March 2020, subject to further review.

APL adds that, as of now, counter services remain available except at the locations below.
