Marino Group opens new container depot in Alabama

Marino Group has announced the opening of a new container depot of around 140,000 m² in Alabama, US to meet the demands of the container and intermodal traffic through the port of Mobile and the US Gulf.

Container maintenance and repair, loaded and empty container storage, warehousing, chassis start-stop and repairs, grounded temperature-controlled unit pre-trips, and genset rental programmes are all available at the new site, according to Marino Group, which noted the new facility is already open and fully operational.

“Establishing our presence with our state-of-the-art depot in Mobile demonstrates our commitment to strengthening our position in the Gulf,” stated David Miller, senior director of operations at the Marino Group’s Marine Repair Services-Container Maintenance Corporation (MRS-CMC).

The facility is less than a mile from the marine terminals at 1251 Baker Street and is expected to help with terminal capacity difficulties. The new depot contains load lifts, empty handlers, a chassis stacker and down stacker, and reefer plugs.

Miller added, “For more than 50 years, since containerisation in shipping became a reality, The Marino Group has been responding to the needs of the industry with services that enhance and support supply chain fluidity”.
