Middle East and India rates set to rise again

Hapag Lloyd has decided to implement higher charges from Middle East and Indian Subcontinent to various destinations from mid-October and November.

In particular, the German carrier will apply a general rate increase (GRI) from these regions to the US and Canada for all dry, reefer, non-operating reefer, tank, flat rack and open-top containers, effective from 1 November.

  • US$800 per 20′ standard container
  • US$1,000 per 40′ standard container (40′ x 8’6″)
  • US$1,200 per 40′ high cube container (40′ x 9’6″)
  • US$1,200 per 40′ reefer container (40′ x 9’6″)

In addition, Hapag-Lloyd has announced a new peak season surcharge (PSS) for all container types from Middle East and Indian Subcontinent to North Europe and Mediterranean.

The PSS, which will be effective for sailings as of 15 October and valid until further notice, will read as follows:

  • US$200 per 20’
  • US$400 per 40’

Indian subcontinent: India, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka
Middle East: UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Jordan
