Mondiale VGL acquires Interunion to expand Southeast Asia operations

Mondiale VGL, one of Oceania’s leading privately owned sea freight forwarders, announced the acquisition of Interunion, a provider of air, sea, and land transportation, warehousing, logistics, and domestic transportation in Southeast Asia.

Before this acquisition, Mondiale VGL already had a stake in Interunion and the two companies have been partners since 2012.

This acquisition represents a natural progression for both companies and will enhance opportunities for their customers by providing access to an expanded global network. Through Interunion’s network in Southeast Asia and Mondiale VGL’s worldwide presence, customers will benefit from a broader range of services, according to the statement.

Interunion operates in five rapidly growing markets in Southeast Asia: Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam. The acquisition will not affect the Interunion team, service offerings, branch network, or brand, ensuring that customers and agents will not experience any changes in day-to-day operations.

Mondiale VGL, a growing freight forwarding company, employs over 1,500 staff across 56 offices in New Zealand, Australia, Asia, Europe, and the USA, supported by over 500 agency offices worldwide. With a strategic focus on building a global supply chain rooted in the Asia-Pacific region, the Interunion acquisition aligns perfectly with Mondiale VGL’s objectives and enhances its presence and customer service capabilities in Southeast Asia.
