The current chief executive of the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) Quah Ley Hoon will step down on 5 September and will be succeeded by Teo Eng Dih, the current deputy secretary (Policy) of the Ministry of Defense (MINDEF) of Singapore.
Quah Ley Hoon was appointed chief executive of MPA on 1 November 2018 and assumed the position on 1 January 2019.
She led the MPA to the completion of Tuas Port Phase 1 reclamation in 2021. Additionally, Quah launched the Singapore Shipping Tripartite Alliance Resilience (SG-STAR) Fund in November 2020, the first global tripartite initiative, to work with stakeholders in seafaring nations on sustainable solutions for safe crew changes during the pandemic.
She was also instrumental in efforts such as the Sea-Air-Vaccination Exercise and the Sea Crew Vaccination Initiative to protect the health of both local naval personnel and crew members on ships sailing to Singapore.
To support and accelerate maritime decarbonisation, she has partnered with the Singapore Maritime Foundation to establish the Global Centre for Maritime Decarbonisation (GCMD) with private sector partners in August 2021.
Maritime Singapore took significant steps forward in digital maturity during Quah’s tenure when she led the MPA to launch digitalPORT@SGTM, which streamlined port clearance forms across multiple organisations into a single digital clearance platform.
