Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has confirmed the loss of 350 containers overboard and a further 79 boxes damaged when the Maersk Essen was hit by a storm in the Pacific on 16 January.
[s2If is_user_logged_in()]MSC’s 2M partner, Maersk, diverted the vessel, which had been due to call at the Port of Los Angeles from Xiamen in China, to the Port of Lázaro Cárdenas, Mexico for the discharging of damaged boxes, before it resumes its service on 16 February, calling in LA to discharge the remaining, undamaged cargo.
Maersk Essen was carrying cargo for MSC customers as part of the company’s Pearl service, the vessel is expected to arrive in LA anchorage on 19 February and will berth at APM Terminals Pier 400 in LA port on 1 March.
