MSC in battle with Maersk for Denmark’s largest container port

According to the local media, Maersk-owned APM Terminals seems to be on its way to leave Denmark’s largest container port of Aarhus.

MSC is reportedly in negotiations with the Danish port to develop a new container terminal in Aarhus. At the same time, the port seems to have concerns about the current monopolio that APM Terminals enjoys, according to DynaLiners.

Maersk has reportedly offered a different way of relationship with Port of Aarhus.

In the meantime, APM Terminals is extending its opening hours from Monday to Thursday at Aarhus Port, now allowing access between 18.00-20.00 in addition to existing hours.

“We expand the opening hours to increase flexibility for you, and to reduce the operational pressure at the terminal to avoid waiting time for you,” said Maersk in a customer advisory.

The Danish company noted that an additional surcharge of 100DKK (around US$15) applies for pickups during the extended opening hours.
