MSC to push up European rates in September

The Swiss shipping line MSC will implement new rate increases for shipments in Europe that will take effect in September.

Firstly, the Geneva-based carrier will rise its Freight All Kinds (FAK) rates from the Port of Colombo in Sri Lanka to the ports of Antwerp and Valencia. The new prices will be applicable from 1 until 15 September.

The new rates for 20′, 40′ dry and high cube (HC) containers will be as follows:

All prices are in US$

Moreover, MSC will push up its prices by US$200 per dry and HC unit, for all export shipments from the Southern Africa Region (South Africa, Swaziland, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Mozambique) for cargoes loaded via the ports of Maputo, Beira and Nacala in Mozambique and will be destined to Europe, United Kingdom (UK) and the Mediterranean.

MSC said it will introduce this rate increase from 13 September “due to the continued capacity and equipment constraints in the current global environment.”

Last but not least, the major shipping company will apply the following increased FAK rates from the European ports of Antwerp, Genoa, La Spezia and Bremerhaven to several American destinations, which will be effective from 26 September.

All prices are in US$.
