MSC announced that its standalone East/West network services will be upgraded with additional port calls to enhance connectivity between Asia, Europe, the United States, and Canada.
These updates, effective from February 2025, reflect MSC’s ongoing commitment to expanding its ocean freight network, providing customers with more direct port pair options, and ensuring competitive transit times.
As part of this enhancement, MSC’s Mustang service, connecting Asia to the Northwest US and Canada, will be integrated into the carrier’s East/West network. The updated rotation will include Xiamen, Yantian, Ningbo, Shanghai, Busan, Seattle, Vancouver, Portland, and Busan.
In addition, connectivity between Asia and North America will be further strengthened through new port calls in Vietnam’s Vung Tau and Haiphong on the Pearl and Chinook services.
MSC’s Asia-to-Europe trade network will also see significant improvements, including new port calls in Nansha on the Lion and Dragon services. The Swan-Sentosa service will add a westbound call in Yantian and feature a direct connection to Japan via Yokohama, replacing the previous call at Busan.
Furthermore, the Jade service will now include a stop at India’s port of Vizhinjam, before proceeding to the Mediterranean. Meanwhile, the Dragon service will replace Colombo with Vizhinjam on its eastbound route.
For trade between Asia and North Europe, the Britannia service will now include a call in Colombo. Similarly, the Colombo port will be added to the America service eastbound from the US East Coast back to Asia.
Additionally, a westbound call at Busan will be introduced to the Orient and Lonestar services, connecting US West and East Coast trade to Asia respectively.
Moreover, the Albatros service will undergo adjustments in its European calls, with the addition of London Gateway after Felixstowe, which will remain the first European port of call from Asia.
“Today’s latest 2025 East/West network update and its options will not impact the tonnage or deployment for any other routes provided by MSC globally,” said the Swiss/Italian ocean carrier.
