The 4,578 TEU container vessel Dyros, which lost around 90 boxes in North Pacific on 21 March remains at Lazaro Cardenas port in Mexico for assessment and necessary repairs.
Maersk, which has chartered and is operating the vessel, has decided that, after the completion of the vessel assessment, necessary repairs are required for the safety of the vessel, itself, crew members, and cargo.
“We will begin vessel repairs once discharge operations have concluded and we anticipate these repairs to be complete over the weekend,” noted the Danish carrier in its latest update.
Once the repairs of Costamare-owned Dyros are complete, Maersk expects the boxship to sail to Seattle directly. “We believe we will be able to secure a berth window relatively quickly based on internal discussions with the terminal,” added Maersk.
