New electric vehicles at Virginia box terminal

Four new all-electric trucks went into operation on 12 January at Norfolk International Terminals (NIT) of the Port of Virginia, as part of the US port’s plan to become carbon-neutral by 2040.

The new vehicles, MAFI T230e Electric Yard Tractors, are expected to move containers inside the terminal area.

According to Port of Virginia, these cutting-edge vehicles will soon be outfitted with GPS technology that will connect them with the port’s terminal operating system and allow for location tracking and route mapping.
