New European green hydrogen corridor between Bilbao and Amsterdam

Port of Bilbao, the Basque Energy Agency (EVE), Petronor, SkyNRG, Evos Amsterdam, Zenith Energy Terminals and Port of Amsterdam, are joining forces for the development of a new green hydrogen corridor between Bilbao, Spain and Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

The corridor focuses on the maritime route between the two European ports.

The port of Amsterdam noted, “we want to develop a green hydrogen supply chain with the parties, with a focus on production in the Basque Country and export to the Netherlands and the hinterland via the port of Amsterdam.”

Dutch Minister for Climate and Energy Rob Jetten commented, “The Netherlands and Europe have major hydrogen ambitions to achieve a climate-neutral energy system and a sustainable industry. International cooperation is essential to develop the hydrogen market and the infrastructure it requires.”

He added, “Within the European Union, Spain has enormous opportunities and is therefore one of our most important hydrogen partners. In the end, it is the companies that really have to do it.”
