As the new year unfolds, Roman Fürtig takes on the role of Head at the Representative Office Germany East for Port of Hamburg Marketing. Drawing on his extensive background as a historian and political scientist, he succeeds Stefan Kunze, who is set to retire at the end of April.
Roman Fürtig will be based in Berlin, overseeing market dynamics in eastern Germany. He assumes the role of the primary contact for members and businesses in this region.
Berlin will function as a strategic hub for Fürtig, enabling him to effectively communicate comprehensive information about the Port of Hamburg to federal political representatives.
“We eagerly anticipate collaborating with Roman Fürtig, confident that his expertise and dedication will significantly contribute to advancing the Port of Hamburg’s presence in eastern Germany. Antje Göhler will continue to provide support from our office in Dresden,” stated Axel Mattern, a member of the Port of Hamburg Marketing Board.
Boasting a wealth of two decades in the field, the 49-year-old Fürtig has functioned as a scientific advisor and office manager for Hamburg’s representatives in the German Bundestag.
His extensive engagement in the Port of Hamburg and its hinterland transport, along with notable contributions to the development of the Elbe concept, underscores his profound comprehension of the region. Serving as an honorary chairman of “Die Pfeffersäcke,” an association of Hamburgers in Berlin, Fürtig upholds robust connections with the Hanseatic city.
