Doyle Shipping Group (DSG) has purchased a new hybrid rubber tyre gantry (RTG) crane from Liebherr Container Cranes for the Port of Dublin in Ireland.
The new RTG has a span of 25.9 meters, or seven containers plus a truck lane, a lift height of 21 meters, or one over six containers, and a secure operating weight of 41 tonnes.
The LES 200 is a cutting-edge capacitor device that catches and stores energy generated during hoist lowering and barking that would otherwise be wasted.
The captured energy is redeployed during high demand, lowering the RTG’s total energy usage and emissions. The method helps the ecosystem and saves money by lowering operating and maintenance costs.
“Liebherr has worked with Doyle’s Shipping Group at Dublin Port since 1999 when they received the first of six Liebherr Harbour Mobile (LHM) cranes. Subsequent years saw the addition of five more LHMs and in 2007, they received the first three of their Liebherr RTGs, with the newest machine bringing to 12 the number of RTGs at the terminal. In addition, we have supplied a ship-to-shore container crane in 2015,” commented Dan O’Shea, Liebherr Container Cranes area sales manager for Europe.
