New managing director for PIL China

PIL announced the retirement of Klaus Ku, managing director of PIL China, who has served the company for around 30 years.

Anderson Luo, who previously worked for Maersk, will succeed Klaus Ku as managing director of PIL China.

“With 20 years of track record in senior management responsibilities, Anderson brings with him a wealth of experience and a solid understanding of China’s shipping market, making him well placed to lead PIL China into the future. I look forward to the contributions of Anderson to the company’s continued growth and development,” stated Lars Kastrup, CEO of PIL.

From 3 November 2023, Klaus Ku has assumed the role of Advisor of PIL China until early 2024 to ensure a smooth leadership transition.

Since joining the company in 1995, Ku has played a key role in growing and expanding PIL’s China business. Under his leadership, PIL strengthened ties with the key ports in China, forged good partnerships with them and earned many accolades from the ports across the country.

Lars Kastrup said, “On behalf of all at PIL, I would like to express our deepest gratitude to Klaus for his long and loyal service in leading PIL China to what it is today. His deep knowledge of China and strong network were instrumental in helping PIL establish ourselves as a valued shipping line in China.”

PIL’s executive chairman, S.S. Teo also expressed his deep gratitude to Klaus Ku for his contribution to the company.

In honor of Ku, a farewell dinner was organised at PIL China’s Shanghai office on 3 November. Interestingly, the dinner happened to coincide with Ku’s birthday, and he celebrated the occasion with his family and nearly 50 colleagues from PIL China.
