Norfolk Southern has recently introduced a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) team comprising representatives from key strategic departments.
This newly formed PPP team aims to optimize the use of federal and state funding by collaborating with public partners to improve safety, operational efficiency, and infrastructure across its 22-state network.
The team includes Strategic Planning, Government Relations, and Engineering and Operations members, who work closely with state agencies, local governments, and regional planning organizations.
Utilizing various resources such as project planning, grant writing, administrative assistance, and letters of support, the PPP team strives to enhance resource allocation efficiency, infrastructure development, public-private collaboration, and community growth.
“At Norfolk Southern, fostering growth and safety within the communities we serve, live, and work has always been a top priority. Our new Public Private Partnership team will enable us to make an even greater impact through diverse state, federal, and Norfolk Southern-operated grant opportunities, driving mutually beneficial change throughout our entire network,” stated Will Miller, Norfolk Southern director of Public Safety.
Their primary goal is to partner with public agencies and local communities to foster infrastructure improvement, operational efficiency, public safety, and community development. By strategically leveraging funding opportunities, the team aims to create sustainable, long-term benefits for the communities Norfolk Southern serves.
In addition to supporting federal and state grant applications, Norfolk Southern funds two open-application grants, the Safety First and Thriving Communities Grants. These grants support organizations within their 22-state network that promote safe and sustainable operations, workforce development, and building strong, resilient communities.
