The North Charleston project under way

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) – This week, construction workers hit a milestone building the Port Access Road: the project is now halfway complete.

That project will connect I-26 to the Hugh Leatherman Terminal in North Charleston once it’s built in two years.

The Hugh Leatherman Terminal is a $700 million project, a new container terminal that is supposed to boost capacity at the port by 50 percent.

But making sure people and businesses can get to the terminal from I-26 is not a cheap endeavor.
