NWSA sees increased box volumes in November

The Northwest Seaport Alliance (NWSA), comprising the ports of Seattle and Tacoma, has registered a year-on-year increase of 7.8% in container throughput during November, handling a total of 325,604 TEU.

At the same time, total imports grew by 4.6% compared to last year’s November and reached 133,827 TEU, despite a decrease of 26.2% in empty imports.

In the meantime, exports also rose by 7.1% year-on-year, completing 130,034 TEU, mainly driven by an increase of 45.3% in empty exports, according to NWSA’s data.

Additionally, the domestic volumes also recorded a rise of 17.4% year-on-year in November, while volumes from Hawaii and Alaska trade were elevated by 29.4%, and 14.8%, respectively.

Regarding the NWSA’s traffic from the start of the year until November, it is improved by 15.4%, with 3,482,104 TEU overal, which translates to rises of 18.2% in imports and 15.4% in exports.
