NWSA’s Terminal 5 in final stages of commissioning

The second phase of the modernization project at the Northwest Seaport Alliance’s (NWSA’s) Terminal 5 is currently in the final stages of commissioning.

NWSA, the shipping alliance of the ports of Seattle and Tacoma in the United States, said they, along with their partners, are looking forward to the full operation of both berths at the terminal upon completion of the commissioning process.

“Construction on the Terminal 5 Modernization Project commenced in July 2019, fueled by a joint investment of more than half a billion dollars from NWSA, SSA Terminals (Seattle Terminals), LLC and its partners,” noted NWSA in a statement.

This modernization endeavor aims to increase cargo capacity, create job opportunities in the Puget Sound region, and ensure the NWSA gateway remains competitive in the Transpacific trade in the next years.
