OCI Global inks green hydrogen supply deal with New Fortress Energy’s ZeroParks

Following a competitive bidding procedure, OCI Global, a producer of ammonia and methanol, announced a deal to offtake green hydrogen from New Fortress Energy Inc.’s (NFE) ZeroParks commencing in 2025.

The agreement will allow OCI Global to increase its green ammonia production capacity in Beaumont, Texas, to about 160,000 tons per year.

The deal follows New Fortress Energy’s announcement of a 100-megawatt (MW) electrolyzer system order from Electric Hydrogen Co. (EH2).

ZeroParks, NFE’s hydrogen company, will manufacture green hydrogen using proton exchange membrane (PEM) technology and transfer it to OCI’s facilities in Beaumont, Texas, where it will be transformed into green ammonia.

ZeroPark I, NFE’s first green hydrogen project, will be completed in two phases: the first in 2025, allowing OCI to generate roughly 80,000 tons of green ammonia per year, and the second in 2026, doubling OCI’s production capacity to 160,000 tons per year.

OCI generated its first tons of hydrogen-based green ammonia earlier this year at its Egypt Green facility, which is operated by Fertiglobe, an OCI Global and ADNOC strategic collaboration.
