ONE and Portchain mark one year of digital berth alignment collaboration

Ocean Network Express (ONE) and Portchain have completed the first year of their collaboration for the digitalization of ONE’s berth alignment process with terminals.

This initiative has delivered improvements in operational efficiency, sustainability, and facilitated the adoption of Just-In-Time (JIT) port calls, according to a Portchain’s statement.

Over the past year, the collaboration has enabled the Singapore-based ocean carrier to coordinate more than 1,700 port calls globally, resulting in fuel savings and reduced CO2 emissions.

An example of ONE/Portchain partnership is the collaboration of the box carrier with Port Houston, where improved communication empowered ONE to adjust the vessel speeds to ensure JIT arrivals, effectively enabling reduction to bunker consumption and CO2 emission.

Globally, the integration of Portchain Connect has contributed to ONE’s objectives of efficient bunker fuel management and CO2 emission.

ONE plans to expand the use of Portchain Connect across its global network in 2025, embedding digitalization and sustainability further into its operations.

“Over the past year, our collaboration with Portchain has demonstrated the value of digital berth alignment for improving efficiency and reducing emissions. We look forward to building on this success as we continue to work closely with our terminal partners and deliver operational excellence and enhanced service to our customers,” commented Captain Masaharu Urabe, Global Vessel Operations at ONE.
