Ocean Network Express (ONE) has responded to the disruption to its Chinese operations through the restricions placed on transport by Chinese authorities attempting to contain the Novel coronavirus outbreak by activating an action plan designed to allow the company to respond to serious situations.
ONE has published an update about the impact that the outbreak of Novel Coronavirus is having on its operations and activities in Greater China and the management team have formed a special task force that has activated its Business Continuity Plan (BCP), which the company uses in serious situations.
“Everything possible is being done to ensure the safety of our staff whilst also acting to limit any impact on customer and partner business activities,” said ONE.
As the Chinese government has announced the Lunar New Year holidays will be extended to 2 February 2020, ONE has presented a full list of the dates on which they expect to resume normal office opening across Greater China:
On 23 January 2020, the Chinese government announced a lockdown of Wuhan, therefore ONE’s cargo operations at the port have been suspended until further notice.
“New bookings to/from Wuhan are suspended, and our staff will continue to liaise with customers who have Wuhan shipments already in progress to discuss the most appropriate course of action for these shipments.”
Elsewhere in China, all ONE container operations, including those at the terminals, depots, and other facilities, continue to operate as usual over the Lunar New Year holiday period, according to the Singapore-based shipping company. For ports other than Wuhan, vessels are still maintaining their normal port calls and operations.
ONE adds that all its China offices will have staff available either on-site or via remote access in order to ensure operations continue to run smoothly throughout this exceptional period and to take bookings for future shipments.
