Ocean Network Express (ONE) and Seaspan Corporation concluded their second joint crisis management drill on 14 February 2023.
Building on lessons learned from the inaugural joint drill in December 2021, representatives from the two companies responded to a simulated scenario involving a fire on board a container ship during an outbound passage from Vancouver in Canada.
“The drill tested emergency response procedures, with a particular focus on post-pandemic hybrid work models and how they impact inter and intra-organisation workflow,” said a statement.
Over 70 participants from ONE’s global headquarters in Singapore, regional headquarters in Richmond, US and Seaspan’s principal operations management office in Vancouver were involved.
Hiroki Tsujii, managing director at ONE, said, “Today’s successful joint drill with Seaspan reflects our mutual and unwavering commitment towards safety and resilience building. It served as a litmus test for our emergency procedures and our overall ability to communicate with the media, members of the public and relevant stakeholders during a crisis. We will draw valuable lessons from the drill and strengthen our ability to respond to the evolving risks our industry faces. I look forward to the next joint drill with Seaspan.”
