Asian container shipping companies will launch a new service, which will connect Korea and Central/South China to Southeast Asia.
Yang Ming, Ocean Network Express (ONE), Korea Marine Transport Corporation (KMTC) and SITC Container Lines will join forces on the new intra-Asia service, which is expected to launch on 30 October from the Port of Pusan.
Each company will deploy one container ship with a nominal capacity of 2,500-2,800TEU on the service, which Yang Ming calls Korea-China-Southeast Asia Express Service (KCX) and ONE calls Korea – China – Straits Service (KCS).
The new service’s rotation will be the following: Pusan – Shanghai – Xiamen – Singapore – Port Kelang – Pasir Gudang – Laem Chabang – Shekou – Pusan
A round trip will take 28 days, according to a statement.
ONE believes that the new product will enhance the coverage of the Intra Asia market, while Yang Ming noted that it “will not only shorten the transit time between Central China and Singapore / Malaysia, but also strengthen the service network connecting Northeast Asia and ASEAN members.”
ONE added that the new service “will bring more options and greater flexibility” to the company’s customers.
This is ONE’s first dedicated Korea and Central/South China to Southeast Asia service which provides a competitive transit time from port to port, according to the company’s statement.
“The unique selling proposition of this service is the Pasir Gudang call and customers can now take advantage of shipping from Pasir Gudang to Laem Chabang, a unique direct service in the market,” commented the Singaporean line.
