ICTSI’s Onne Multipurpose Terminal celebrates safety milestone

International Container Terminal Services, Inc.’s (ICTSI) Nigerian cargo facility, Onne Multipurpose Terminal (OMT) reached a safety milestone after clocking in two million man-hours with zero lost time injury (LTI).

OMT attained the landmark two years after it began commercial operations in 2021. A celebration was arranged to honour the achievement, which is more than simply an operational and business idea, according to Rebecca Ollornwafor, OMT head of safety.

“LTI may sound like a theoretical and abstract concept, but what we are celebrating is the fact that we have all been able to safely go home to our loved ones at the end of every work day,” stated Ollornwafor.

OMT in Nigeria is one of four terminals operated by ICTSI on the African continent. The global port operator is still looking for new opportunities in West and South Africa, notably in the container cargo corridor between Durban and Gauteng in South Africa.

“Everywhere we are, safety is our top priority. We are doing our best to provide our employees with a safe work environment and ensure that everyone gets home to their families safe,” stated Christian R. Gonzalez ICTSI Executive vice president, congratulating the OMT team for the landmark achievement.
