Shippers with OOCL Logistics will now be able to access the China Railway Express (Chang’an) network following a co-operation agreement reached between the logistics company and its business partner Xi’an International Inland Port Multimodal Transportation Corporation.
The deal was signed at the third annual China International Import Expo 2020 (CIIE) in Shanghai on 7 November.
The new co-operation agreement will provide a vital trade corridor for shippers who wish to leverage the extensive China Railway Express (Chang’an) network, said the announcement.
The Chinese logistics and supply-chain services provider has been working together with the Xi’an International Inland Port Multimodal Transportation Corporation since April 2020. OOCL Logistics shipments via the China Railway Express (Chang’an) network have been rising steadily over the last six months with a monthly compound growth rate of 43%.
“We will continue to strengthen our collaboration with the Xi’an International Inland Port Multimodal Transportation Corporation to enhance our business volumes on the China Railway Express,” said Robin Qi, managing director of OOCL Logistics in China
Xi’an International Inland Port Multimodal Transportation Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Xi’an ILT Group, is the sole operator of the China Railway Express (Chang’an) that links China to many European and regional destinations. This express network has a high-frequency of services, currently operating 15 service routes and covers more than 40 strategic rail stations in total.
Departing from Xi’an, the capital city of northwest China’s Shaanxi Province, as many as 3,004 train deployments this year (by 18 October), have taken millions tonnes of cargo to European markets, including Germany, Belgium, Italy and Russia as well as Central-Asia.
