Patrick Terminals Brisbane AutoStrad receives new Liebherr semi-automated crane

Patrick Terminals Brisbane AutoStrad in Australia recently acquired a new cabinless ship-to-shore container crane with advanced automation capabilities from Liebherr Container Cranes.

This cutting-edge crane was recently installed at Brisbane AutoStrad and is currently handling container vessels and automated landside activities.

The crane is highly automated and uses Liebherr’s Remote Operator Station (ROS) for pick and place over the vessel as well as exception handling. The ROS provides the same level of crane control as an onboard operator but from the office, according to a statement.

This semi-automated crane is the first of its kind for Patrick Terminals, as well as one of the first cabinless Liebherr ship-to-shore container cranes to enter service across the world, demonstrating Liebherr’s dedication to driving technical innovation in the port equipment business.

Patrick Terminals Brisbane Autostrad also has two Liebherr ship-to-shore box cranes, the first of which was delivered in 2015 and has recently had its lift height and outreach extended using the revolutionary and patented Liebherr transform technology. The new crane has a 54-meter outreach, a 48-meter back reach, a lift height above rail of 40 metres, and a span of 25.3 metres.
