PD Ports announced the addition of Michelle Robson to its executive leadership team, furthering PD Ports’ vision to become the UK’s premier and most sustainable seaport and port logistics operator.
As Chief People and Compliance Officer, Michelle will oversee a wide array of essential functions across the PD Ports Group, including Human Resources, health, safety, and environment, resilience, business continuity, and security, as well as the Harbour Police and Harbour Office.
“I am delighted to join PD Ports and to have the opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking and dynamic business, with a strong track record of performance and people development,” stated Michelle Robson.
Michelle brings a robust leadership background and a wealth of experience crafting people strategies that drive significant business outcomes. She joined PD Ports from Indicia Worldwide, serving as Global Chief People Officer, and overseeing the company’s international people strategy.
Moreover, her extensive leadership experience includes over 20 years in senior roles within shipbuilding and the oil and gas offshore industry in Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, along with expertise in manufacturing and engineering.
Michelle’s arrival coincides with a transformative period for PD Ports, as we advance towards our goal of becoming the UK’s most sustainable port, aiming to achieve net zero emissions across our operations by 2040.

Robson added, “While I have a background in maritime, ports and logistics are a new sector for me – I want not only to understand our business but to also understand the customers and communities we serve. Jon Armstrong, the current Director of Human Resources and Statutory Compliance at PD Ports, will step down from his position this summer after a transition period with Michelle.
In addition, Armstrong joined PD Ports in 2000 as part of the senior finance management team and was instrumental in driving system and organizational changes as the PD Ports Group consolidated.
He played a significant role in implementing the Port Marine Safety Code, served as the Designated Person for several years, and oversaw a comprehensive review of the Group’s security and Harbour Police functions.
Frans Calje, the CEO of PD Ports, welcomed Michelle to the company and paid tribute to Jon Armstrong for his contributions.
