Peel Ports strengthens Liverpool team with new Sales Director

Peel Ports Group, one of the largest port operators in the United Kingdom, has appointed logistics expert Gareth Davies as Sales Director for the Port of Liverpool.

In this role, he will drive commercial growth, identify new opportunities, and develop tailored solutions for both new and existing customers.

Gareth Davies brings over 30 years of experience in multimodal road and rail logistics. He joins Peel Ports from Wincanton, where he served as Head of Operations, overseeing bulk transport operations for fuel, food, and cement.

His career began in 1994 as a graduate management trainee at P&O Trans European, and he has since held leadership roles at DB Schenker Rail (UK) and Den Hartogh Logistics.

His appointment follows research indicating that nearly half (47%) of UK businesses faced supply chain disruptions last year due to unpredictable consumer demand, rising trade tensions, and unreliable supplier networks.

In his new role, Davies will collaborate with customers to develop port-centric solutions that enhance operational efficiency and streamline supply chains.

Gareth Davies commented: “Supply chain inefficiencies are creating significant challenges for businesses operating all over the UK. We want to play our part in optimising supply chains for those in the project cargo, bulk materials, RoRo cargo, and many more industries by helping them streamline their logistics. The Port of Liverpool is iconic; it’s at the heart of the UK supply chain, and we have a fantastic team here that I’m thrilled to be joining.”

Phil Hall, Mersey Port Director, Peel Ports Group, stated: “Gareth brings a wealth of experience to this role, and we’re excited to see him nurture the strong relationships we’ve built with our customers. His knowledge of the logistics industry will prove invaluable for them.”
