Penang Port joins International Association of Ports and Harbors

International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH), a non-governmental organization (NGO) headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, announced that Penang Port Sdn Bhd has become a regular member of the IAPH.

IAPH has evolved into a worldwide port alliance, including 177 ports and 147 port-related enterprises in 84 countries as of 31 August 2023. The member ports collectively handle well over 60% of global seaborne trade and 60% of global container traffic.

Penang Port is an international port placed in the Malacca Strait on the Northwest Coast of Peninsular Malaysia. Penang Port Sdn Bhd was formed in 1994 and privatised in 2014. It manages and offers port services at Penang Port, such as cargo handling (containers, break bulk, dry and liquid bulk), maritime services (pilotage, tug boat, port safety, dredging), ferry and cruise services, and auxiliary services including security, firefighting, rescue, and anti-pollution.
