PIL launches first direct service connecting South China and Calcutta

Pacific International Lines (PIL) announced the launch of China Calcutta Service (CCS), the first direct link between South China and Calcutta (or Kolkata) in the market.

This weekly service commenced on 2 July 2024 from Xiamen.

“PIL is pleased to be a pioneer in offering a direct China to Calcutta service, supporting the high growth and trade in these two economies,” stated Surendran Mathilagath, general manager of Intra-Asia Services at PIL. “This service also connects customers with a gateway to Singapore for the Southeast Asia market, as well as Bangladesh, the East Coast of India and Myanmar.”

The CCS service rotation will be Xiamen (China) – Shekou (China) – Singapore – Calcutta (India) – Singapore – Xiamen

“The launch of this service demonstrates PIL’s continued commitment to being a first mover to meet the needs of the market by providing customised solutions for our customers,” added Surendran Mathilagath.
