Pilbara Ports: November 2023 throughput reaches 61.5Mt

In November 2023, Pilbara Ports recorded a total monthly throughput of 61.5 million tonnes (Mt), indicating a four percent decrease compared to the same period in 2022.

Specifically, the Port of Port Hedland contributed a monthly throughput of 45.8Mt, with 44.9Mt attributed to iron ore exports.

This represented a five percent decline in total throughput compared to November 2022. Notably, imports through the Port of Port Hedland saw a two percent increase, reaching 185,000 tonnes.

Meanwhile, the Port of Dampier reported a total throughput of 14.8Mt for November 2023, reflecting a one percent decrease from the previous year. Import activities through the Port of Dampier experienced a notable 20 percent surge, totalling 136,000 tonnes compared to November 2022.

It is important to acknowledge that various factors contribute to the fluctuations in throughput, including shifts in market conditions, ongoing port maintenance operations, and the specific needs of proponents.

Cumulatively, the total throughput across all ports since 1 July 2023, amounts to 307.9Mt.
